Datafam Card Exchange

Third time’s the charm!

Michelle Frayman and I started the Datafam Card Exchange in 2020 - a year where connection was sorely needed. For many, the pandemic had kept us apart from our friends, and for some our families. And we wanted to end the year on a high note and remind people that despite all the things that were happening in the world, no matter how far away they were, no one was alone.

A lot has changed since then. We had the privilege of having the first in person conference since the pandemic, TUGs reunited, and more friends joined the wonderful community. But we want to continue bringing this back each year to give people the opportunity to reach out to one another, say something kind, and again end the year remembering what a wonderful and welcoming space we all have the privilege of being part of.

How Does It Work

  1. Sign up using this form by the end of the month (11/28)

  2. Get an email with the name and address of the person you’ll be sending a card to in the beginning of December (12/5)

  3. Send your card out! Get as creative as you’d like last year people sent wonderful things from homemade cards to small gifts. But no pressure, a regular card will do as well :)

That’s all there is to it. The person who you will be sending a card to may not be the person you’re receiving one from so this is a great opportunity to make TWO new friends in the community or to let an old one know how much you appreciate them. We politely request that you make the cards as holiday-agnostic as possible unless the person specified that they celebrate it in order to be respectful of each other.

Last year we had over 100 people participate and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store.
